This hard carbon, a result of poor or inefficient combustion, has built up over time, and become mirror smooth due to the piston ring’s polishing effect. In the past, the only way to deglaze cylinders meant a complete tear-down. However, by using FTC Decarbonizer in the fuel, a safe, very low cost, and completely effective method of oxidizing (burning off) carbon deposits, including cylinder glaze, piston ring groove deposits, etc, is now the better alternative.  Over the years, thousands of engines have been diverted from an engine rebuild by using FTC Decarbonizer.
